BlackBerry DTEK50 review

The world's most secure Android smartphone isn't half bad

If privacy and security are crucial when it comes to selecting a smartphone the DTEK50 will be right up your street, but for those just looking for solid performance at a reasonable price there are better options out there.

BlackBerry DTEK50 review: secure, but not special

Last year BlackBerry launched the Priv, its first-ever Android smartphone. The Priv represented another attempt by BlackBerry to reinvent itself for the modern mobile era and build something worthy...

Monthly security updates ; Near-stock Android software ; Nice display and speakers

Unimpressive performance ; Weak camera ; Poor battery life

BlackBerry DTEK50

There're just a few problems. It isn't made by BlackBerry, doesn't run a BlackBerry operating system and doesn't really make your phone secure. And another thing: It doesn't come with BlackBerry's trademark physical keyboard, so fans of button-punching...

The BlackBerry DTEK50 is a slim, lightweight phone that's easy to use with a single hand. BlackBerry's software tweaks mostly improve the Android experience.

The camera struggles in low light, performance is a bit lacking, and BlackBerry's security claims are seriously overblown.

In a crowded mid-range smartphone market, the DTEK50 doesn't stand out. It's a $300 phone that feels like a $200 one.

BlackBerry DTEK50

BlackBerry has seen its influence rapidly decrease over the past few years, but I retain a soft spot for the company's devices. I was a fan of BlackBerry's first Android phone: the Priv may have been rather big and bulky, but it benefited from clever...

BlackBerry DTEK50 review

BlackBerry DTEK50 review: An affordable, capable Android handset, but it's not really a BlackBerry. We review the latest BlackBerry handset to find out if it is the company's best smartphone.

The BlackBerry DTEK50 is a good phone. Above average, even. But we can’t fully recommend it because of the way BlackBerry is marketing it. The perhaps incorrect status quo is that people don’t want to worry about security; they just want a phone that...

Blackberry DTEK 50 review

The most secure phone in the world?

Some interesting software extras ; Decent screen ; Clear, smartly-designed speakers

Poor battery life ; Expensive for the spec & build ; BlackBerry extras are hit and miss

An unimaginative phone with a price that overvalues BlackBerry’s software extras - unless you're CIA-level paranoid.

BlackBerry DTEK50 Review: In Depth

Blackberry DTEK50 Review: BlackBerry really pushed the boat out when it debuted its Android-powered flagship, the Blackberry Priv, last year. By comparison, 2016's new BlackBerry DTEK50 is more focused…

Attractive, lightweight design ; Great screen ; Smart modifications to Android

Cameras could be better ; Average battery life ; Odd button placement

BlackBerry continues to move away from the troubled past of older ‘Berrys with another strong Android-based offering. Whilst some might consider the lack of a physical QWERTY keyboard and a fingerprint sensor losses, but for £275, you don’t just get a...

BlackBerry is back at it again with a mediocre phone

Another wasted chance.

The BlackBerry Hub still rocks ; Inexpensive

Crappy camera ; Uninspired design ; Terrible name

Even diehard BlackBerry fans may not care for this mediocre phone. Unless you really, really care about security.

BlackBerry DTEK50 review

Blackberry claims that the DTEK50 is the world's most secure smartphone but is it worth buying solely on its security features? Find out in our review.

Good, albeit very familiar, design ; Lots of useful software features ; Security is a big priority ; MicroSD card slot

Lackluster camera ; Disappointing gaming performance ; less than average battery life ; Only 16 GB of internal storage

The Blackberry claims that the DTEK50 is the world’s most secure smartphone, and if security is your number one priority, Blackberry’s second attempt at Android won’t let you down. However, it falls short in a lot areas that prevent it from being a...
