Lenovo ThinkPad T400s Multitouch notebook

Lenovo's T400s supports up to four touch screen inputs

Excellent multitouch display, excellent keyboard, well built

Location of ports can be inconvenient, slow hard drive, screen is relatively dim

The touch screen on the Lenovo ThinkPad T400s Multitouch is responsive and accurate. It's not just a novelty; it can actually be useful if you're a photographer or designer. We also love the keyboard and build quality of the T400s laptop, but wish the...

Lenovo ThinkPad T400s notebook

Netbooks might be all the rage these days, but there is nothing like the power and feel of a fully featured, slim-profile laptop such as Lenovo's Thin...

Excellent keyboard, 2.6cm thick, strong construction, built-in 3G module for Vodafone accounts, very fast solid-state drive, bright 14.1in screen, 1.75kg, Wi-Fi with PAN

Slow wireless networking performance, no dedicated graphics RAM

Despite the slow wireless networking and the lack of a dedicated graphics card, the 14.1in size, light weight, thin frame and advanced features combine to make the Lenovo ThinkPad T400s the perfect laptop for corporate high-flyers. We give it 5 stars...

Review: Lenovo ThinkPad T400s (Multitouch)

T400S tries so hard to be a touchscreen-enabled notebook. But its high price, low performance, and unresponsive display ultimately doom the device.

Lovely textured trackpad (ironically redundant given the multitouch screen). Still offers solid ThinkPad design and sturdiness. Turns Paint into Fingerpaint — fun

Huge price markup for touch features. Massive performance, weight and battery hit. Stretching to use multitouch screen is uncomfortable for more than a few seconds, making extended touch usage nearly impossible and rarely accurate

Lenovo ThinkPad T400s (Multitouch)

We test our first Windows 7, multitouch system, the Lenovo ThinkPad T400s (Multitouch), and the results are good, very good.

Multitouch panel works well. Exquisitely thin. Modular optical drive included. Fast, energy-efficient processor. Nice resolution. Tough as nails. Phenomenal typing experience. Excellent green credentials.

No FireWire or extra card slot. No extended batteries available. ; Watch our Lenovo ThinkPad T400s (Multitouch) video review!

Lenovo ThinkPad T400s (MultiTouch) review: Lenovo ThinkPad T400s (MultiTouch)

Lenovo ThinkPad T400s (MultiTouch)

Excellent quality and construction; thoughtful keyboard layout; inventive touch-screen features.

Expensive; touch-screen features have limited real-world usefulness for most.

A revamped version of Lenovo's slim ThinkPad T400s adds an innovative touch-screen package to the first Windows 7 laptop we've reviewed.

Lenovo ThinkPad T400s

The Lenovo ThinkPad T400s is basically the 14-inch version of the exquisitely thin and light X300, and it elicits just as much drool.

Lightest in its class. Exquisitely thin. Modular optical drive included. Fast, but energy efficient processor. Very nice resolution. Tough as nails. Phenomenal typing experience. Excellent green credentials.

FireWire and extra card slot were concessions that had to be made. No extended batteries.

The 14-inch LED widescreen is energy efficient and thinner than that of the T400, yet it's not susceptible to bending. The panel is bright and its colors are sharp, and much of the credit belongs to the 1,440-by-900 resolution (the same as the T400)....

Review: Lenovo ThinkPad T400s

Who says business is boring? Lenovo's newest notebook is fast, thin and smart.

Unparalleled performance from a 14-inch laptop. Nearly as thin as a MacBook Air — including an optical drive. Killer touchpad (plus TrackPoint for old-schoolers). Plus: Caps Lock LED

Only three USB ports. Fn key where the Ctrl key goes. Unbelievably tinny, distant audio. So-so battery life (2 hours, 11 minutes). No ExpressCard slot

Lenovo ThinkPad T400s

[UPDATE: As of 9/16/2009 Lenovo now offers a multi-point touchscreen version of this laptop. For full details on how it works and pricing, read the Fingers-On report of the new ThinkPad T400s.]

Slender size and plenty of ports ; Fantastic keyboard and touchpad

No discrete graphics card

With the T400s laptop, Lenovo heaps on features, cuts the girth, and builds a lean, mean business machine.
