It's not cheap to store and access your past video footage, but the Dropcam HD surveillance camera is worth the price for its ease of use, great image quality in bright light, and decent picture even in the dark of night.

Simple home surveillance is an appealing idea — who doesn't want to be able to check on their kids while at work or make sure the house is still standing while on vacation? But unfortunately, none...

Incredibly easy to set up ; Good-looking and durable ; Even works in near-total darkness

Mediocre video quality ; Two-way audio doesn't work very well ; Has to be plugged in at all times
