GE Outdoor Switch review: It's a steal, but can't stand alone

 

This Switch is a great deal if you have a Z-Wave gateway, but otherwise it's useless.

For its price, this GE Smart Switch performs the basic functions admirably.

The physical design is clunky, you can't monitor energy consumption and, worse, it lacks a weather-resistant shell.

If you already own a Z-Wave gateway like Piper or SmartThings, this is a great switch to pick up. It performs well and it's a lot cheaper than others on the market.

One of the best delivered prices around. Easy to install. Connected right up to my Smart Things Controller.

Clear Instructions , Easy Installation , Easy to Use

they need a standalone zwave switch as a companion , device to mount on a wall w/o wires.

Works well but design issue

 

Ground screw at the very top of the switch is problematic, Attached 12 gauge wire and top of screw raised enough that it will not fit into wall box. Works well, paired with SmartThings easily.
