First things first, let’s deal with the issue of that resolution. If you’re used to a conventional 27-inch monitor and sit a typical 50cm or so from your screen then the CHG90 will appear a little blocky and pixellated.

A thousand bucks is a lot to spend on a monitor but given the other monitors that sell for around the same price, such as the HP Z38c or the LG 38UC99-W, Samsung’s 49-incher feels like a good deal. It’s among the most impressive monitors we’ve ever used.

Ultra-wide screen provides for an immersive gaming experience. Good HDR performance. Blistering native refresh rate over a DisplayPort conection. AMD FreeSync 2. Wide, sturdy mount.

May be tricky to find room for this display in tight quarters. Screen dimensions less than ideal for viewing videos. Relatively low pixel density compromises its ability to render fine detail. No built-in speakers.
