LG RH397D / RH399D DVD/HDD Recorder

I have had this unit for five years and can only say that it has performed very well. However, just recently found recordings made from TV programs, when replayed on the TV monitor, have become fuzzy, lost their sharpness. Any suggestions? Old age?...
