Epson kills off its old business model with a printer that eliminates ink cartridges. But do the DIY refills justify the higher price tag?

The Epson EcoTank ET-2550 is a multifunction printer, copier and scanner that can hold enough ink to last two years without a single refill. The subsequent refill bottles are also much cheaper than traditional cartridges, offering potential savings...

The printer costs four to eight times more than cartridge-based models. It has a very minimal display and feature set, lacking an Ethernet port, fax functionality, auto-document feeder and duplexing.

With its ultra-low-cost refillable ink bottles, this clever little Epson EcoTank printer does away with pricey ink cartridges once and for all -- but it will cost you a lot more up front.

Unglaublich günstige Seitenpreise sind das Markenzeichen von Epsons EcoTank ET-2500. Der Test zeigt, was das Multifunktionsgerät ausserdem kann – und was nicht.

Sehr günstige Druckkosten, Farbdruck (Grafik)

Leichtes Ausfransen beim Textdruck, Fotodruck (Dauer und Qualität), ADF, Duplexdruck und Fax nicht vorhanden

Epsons EcoTank ET-2500 ist sehr sparsam. Die Druckkosten sind extrem gering. Minuspunkte heimst sich das Modell bei der mageren Ausstattung und dem langsamen Tempo ein.

Too slow and unresponsive

 

I really could not recommend this printing because it's driving me mad. If you switch it off and then on again when you need to print something you will spend 5-10min for your computer to find and connect to the printer even if its wifi light is green...
