I have the Promaster version of this lens. Same optical formula as the Tokina (although I have heard that there is also a Tokina 19-35 based on a 20-35 design). Only significant difference is the Promaster has 7 aperture blades rather than 6.I bought...

Sharpness rivals Pentax DA 16-45mm. Good color & contrast - not overdone like on many newer digital-design lenses. Distortion minimal by 23mm. Good build quality for an inexpensive lens. Has distance scale

Heavy distortion @ 19mm. Edges soft. CA. Slow, almost useless range for indoor use. Huge front element (77mm) means expensive filters. Horrible flare control. Hood is wide. Focus throw too short for comfortable MF
