Canon's EF 35mm f/2 adheres to a traditional film-camera focal length while at the same time attempting to meet the demands of digital photography.....

Consistent performance

Lacklustre overall

Overall, the EF 35mm may not be an outstanding performer but it is very consistent and is certainly workable at its maximum aperture.

weak picture resolution near open aperture, large astigmatism, too large vignetting, loud and not very effective autofocus

Does this lens give us more than just a good equivalent of a kit lens set up at 35 mm? The answer is positive. Although the difference in the middle of the frame is not that great, at the edges the tested lens reaches much better results than zoom...

Released back in 1990 the Canon EF 35mm f/2 is one of the Methusalems in the current EOS lens line-up. On full format DSLRs it's a moderate wide-angle prime lens with typical applications such as street or low-light photography

I denne testen har vi sammenliknet to vidvinkelzoomer mot tre objektiver med fast brennvidde, og prøvd å gi et bilde av hva en "konsumentzoom" yter i forhold til en høykvalitetszoom, og endelig hvordan noen utvalgte fastobjektiver innen samme...

Zoomen 18-55 kan vanskelig anbefales da den i tillegg til beskjedne optiske ytelser også har en direkte skrøpelig mekanisk utførelse med en bajonettfatning i plast. Fatningen på et objektiv er en slitedel som må være av metall dersom objektivet skal...

Great Lens for Low Light Video & Still

 

This is a great lens to use for low light applications (f2.0) and depth of field effects. Since it is considered a mildly wide angle lens (35mm), getting all the people in the shot even when up close, is not a problem. Just wish the price was lower....
