Pleasantly Surprised!

 

Sony and Nikon have or will have competitive camera out on the market but I have an invenstment with Canon lenes ans flash units so I am satisfied with staying with Canon at this point.

This lens has shocking clarity. Even at the widest end of the zoom, the barrel distortion is minimal. The hypersonic motor is very fast - on par with the Nikon 17-55mm 2.8 (which is $1,000 more!).

The vignetting is what I would call "acceptable". I use a Nikon D200 and import the RAW files with Nikon Capture - which allows me to adjust for the vignetting of the lens, so that is really only a minor flaw. If you simply shoot JPEG files and open...

Sigma Lenses Rock with Nikon

 

Produces exception quality photos in a variety of photo shoots. Fits easily into your hand when focusing or setting focal lenght. Fits very for my hand type between thumb and forefinger. I have begun to leave this lens on my Nikon as my standard lens.

Has Auto-focus and Manual Tab capabilities. Able to use my Nikon D80 features as if I had a Nikon lens.

Heavy...seems to weigh more than my Nikon D80. Need to be careful when using tri-pod.
