The U1 is definitely a worthy alternative to the popular Apple iPod shuffle and its included screen and equalisation settings are admirable features - at the expense of solid battery life.

Easy to use. Broad file-format support. Very good audio quality. Customizable track-skip buttons. Very light.

Doesn't work with subscription services. Doesn't ship with a USB extender cable or AC charger.

Looking like a shuffle clone, the YP-U1 tries to go one up on the fruity original.

Nice USB jack implementation ; Improved music software ; Sturdy built ; Nine-band equaliser

Mediocre battery life ; Limited playlist ; No FM radio

Battery life was an unimpressive 13 hours 53 minutes.
