The feature-packed STR-DE997 is a good value if you don't care about style.

Got the unit from a local electronics (major chain)dealer and the unit worked fine for 20 days. Then, the speaker outputs no longer worked. Called Sony's customer-no-service and went through attempts to correct the issue. They determined I'd have to...

Great Receiver Value

 

This is a great receiver for the money. Why spend twice as much or more for the same features and an imperceptible improvement in sound quality? It would be wiser to put the money you save into better speakers. The STR-DE997 is loaded with features....

Lots of features, good sound quality, component video upconversion, Dolby Digital Pro

Volume has to be turned up very high for normal output. Not very user friendly
