The sound quality isn't the greatest, but if you want a system to carry your music around then the included backpack and unique rubberised case may be of some interest.

Full sound. Compact size. Rugged. Has video output.

Controls aren't particularly responsive. Audible pop when tracks change. Distorts when you get near top volume. A bit expensive.

The IM9 is powerful enough for nearby listening outdoors and in small rooms indoors but it distorts at higher volumes.

Portable and durable. Can accommodate most iPods. Has an auxiliary line-in for other audio sources. Comes with a backpack.

No remote. Some design flaws, such as clunky to use buttons and no handle. Only so-so sound quality.

The Altec Lansing inMotion iM9's will find favour with those looking for a portable and durable set of speakers for their iPods. Just don't expect top shelf sound quality.

I have not noticed the hissing between the tracks but I have noticed a popping or crackling which is really audible between most of the tracks and it is really distracting. I may have to return it
