No aspect-ratio control; no MP3 playback; occasional color streaks; darker in interlaced mode; somewhat noisy picture.

Its high-end appearance and modest price make Sony's DVP-NS700P an attractive solution for budget progressive-scan shoppers. But a few video gaffes and missing features keep it from outpacing the competition.

My New 36XBR450 & DVP NS700p

 

I got both the Sony TV and Sony Prog Scan NS700P DVD player for $2129, so that made the TV a great bargin.

The picture quality is scary; it jumps out at you

Tweaking of all pre-set settings is required to get the best picture for your particular signal. It's also heavy, but once the cables are hooked and you don't plan to move it, who cares. I don't like having to go into service mode, but at least it can...

Very significant improvement in HD Video. Fewer Cables, more lines per frame.

Crystal clear picture, progressive scan is sharp.

Instructions for setup are a little difficult to understand.

Sony did a quality job with this system. DVD tray loading is very sturdy as compared to previous sony models.

CD-R/CD-RW playback,elegant styling and handy remote

Doesn't support MP3 format.
