It was supposed to arrive today, came yesterday!!
So far it looks like it will do everything I want it to do. I will post more as I work with it
Long startup, but there is a standby mode that will shorten that. According to the manual, you cannot record digital broadcasts to video tape, which makes sense, just need to use DVD-RAM disks

Very glad that I bought this product.
Much better dvd recording quality than expected. Very little drop off in quality when recording on dvd from TV on the XP ( 1 hour ) SP ( 2 hour ) and the LP ( 4 hour ) modes with the EP ( 8 hour ) mode a little fuzzy but not as bad as I thought. VHS to...

Records vhs to dvd nicely!Using hdmi cable to hookup to my HD tv.Nice picture quality!Newegg gets a 5star.But the panasonic gets a 4,because of the noisy dvd player.
Dvd is a bit noisy on some of my previosly recorded dvds from my old dvd vcr recorder.Commercial dvds arent nearly as bad.But the drive has a low constant clicking noise when playing the commercial dvds.

This is very poorly designed. It won't allow taping digital broadcasts to VCR, but then doesn't support auto-finalize when recording to DVD! Unreal - if you want to record something but don't intend to watch it on that machine, you can only record it...

Read the Warranty!!
This machine works pretty good for me - while it is working! But it freezes just too often - for no reason that I can see.
I have some older Panasonic recorders (no digital tuner) that work fine
I agree with other reviews I have read - the DMR EZ48/485V is a LEMON
