Awesome "bang for buck"

 

I live my life on the "bang for the buck" edge. No camera I know of combines the NEX-5's small size, massive image sensor, high res screen, low price, and cutting edge MEANINGFUL features like HDR, sweep panorama, 3D panorama, and twilight mode.

Amazing screen for the price. Amazing sensor size/quality for the price. Sturdy. Controls are very simple, customizeable, and allow extremely easy adjusting of the most common settings ONCE UPDATED TO V 03 FIRMWARE (that part's important). True...

People say the lens looks big for how small the body is. I'm ok with the fact that the lens is so large in diameter because the image sensor is the full APS-C size. I'll take that trade-off anyday ; 18-55 lens has some issue with keeping straight lines...

This is my first DSLR camera in my life, i tried it for about 1.5 day and im already in love with it! my last camera was SONY Cyber-Shot T900 12.1MP she was ok i guess, and of course there is a big picture/video/overall quality difference between those...

Great Picture & Video Quality ; Small Body Size ; Metal Body ; Light Weight (Without E 18-55mm Lens) ; 3 Inch LCD Screen ; Adjustable LCD Screen (Very Useful)

I don't like the flash material, looks very cheapy plastic and it doesn't match the camera material ; but anyway that doesn't really matter for me, so it's almost non cons for me

I also bought the 16mm lens currently available. Buy the 18-55mm first. The 16mm is not as useful as it would be on the smaller sensors of say, the Olympus EP2. Also buy a second battery. The included one does not have a lot of juice, especially when...

Size: This camera is barely 4.5 inches wide, not even 3.75 inches from lens tip to LCD, and 2.25 inches tall. Its smaller than many of my older chunky point and shoots. The lens size is similar, though smaller than both the Canon kit and Nikon kit...

Flash: The included (and only currently available) flash isn't very high powered and uses a non standard hotshoe to save space. I have no real grudge since I avoid using flash when I am not using a lightkit, but the flash's silver plastic does not...

Overall Great camera, if your thinking about it...go for it!

For an amature, this camera is a blast to use and produces very beautiful images. The colors are vivid but not too eye popping to the point where the image is unrealistic, the video recording is great as well, the screen is sharp, etc. Overall very...

The camera does get warm after a day of usage but nothing too extreme. Battery life is alright for me but i can see where some people may have a problem, packing a spare may help. Autofocus does not always focus on the correct object even in video...

I bought this camera to replace my dslr for times i don't want to be weighted down with equipment. so far, i've been very happy with this little camera.

several modes rely on the bionz processor and offer some unique features. AMB (anti motion blur) shoots several pictures and combines them to create a quality image, twilight allows you to shoot in the dark with some pretty respectable output, auto hdr...

Don't look like a tourist

 

Despite some legitimate cons, I rate this camera 5 eggs because it does exactly what I have needed in a camera so incredibly well.

Take pics inside without using a flash ; Adjustable screen for shooting from the hip or above your head ; Walk around with a full-sized sensor camera and not look like a tourist ; The intelligent auto does a great job, turning this into a point and...

Slow start up ; Sony RAW format not yet supported in PhotoShop ; Battery life is suspect. If you are taking this out for a full day of shooting, you will definitely need a spare ; A traditional hot shoe would be nice
