Lots of noise

While the FX50 did exhibit a lot of noise, it was extremely small and it performed well in all our other tests, so unless you're magnifying your shots to a great degree it may be a contender.

If Panasonic could just nail the noise, the Lumix DMC-FX50 might stand a chance against competitors such as the Canon Digital IXUS 850 IS and the Sony Cyber Shot DSC-T30. As it is, however, you're better off letting the FX50 sit this one out.

This is a great little compact that offers wide angle shooting a good size LCD screen and plenty of user friendly options, though admittedly it is a little pricey.

The DMC-FX50 looks great with joystick controls and a large screen. The start-up time, shot-to-shot time, and the shutter lag are all up to par as well. The small buttons could get on your nerves, and if they don't the image noise might get to you. The...
