A day on the Gateway 14

 

The Gateway 14, available exclusively at Walmart, is one of the cheapest Windows laptops you can buy. We used it for a day of work, and while it's not perfect, it offers great value — and a bold, blue chassis.

Great price for the specs ; Speedy performance with no noise ; Excellent port selection ; Easy to upgrade storage ; It’s blue!

Bad touchpad ; Not great microphones ; Tinny audio ; Keyboard isn’t backlit

Lax security; flimsy keyboard.

Slim laptop has 4 USB ports--more than most laptops have. It has a problematic pointing stick device, however.

Gateway M460X

 

Though it's well designed, the M460X has a disappointing keyboard.

The M460X is light and snazzy looking for a 15.4-inch wide screen, but don't consider it if you're set on using a pointing stick.
