Marvelously thin and light. Bright screen. Nifty AC adapter. VGA and Ethernet dongles and case included.

Stiff, non-backlit keyboard. Reflective screen. No memory-card slot. Lethal power button position.

The Asus Zenbook UX21 is the first 11-inch ultrabook to hit the shelves, joining the likes of the Acer Aspire S3 and its bigger brother, the Asus Zenbook UX31.

Poor keyboard drops letters frequently. Erratic touch pad. Screen has very shallow vertical viewing angles. Rear of the notebook gets very hot under load.

While the performance is very much there for the Zenbook UX21, it falls tragically short at one of the most important factors: human interaction. The touch pad, screen and keyboard will make you want to pass by this one product ? no matter how pretty...

In everyday use, performance is a non-issue. The 4GB of memory and 128GB SSD keep the system punching well above its weight, and the speed of that SSD allows the system to boot from cold with unnerving haste.
