How quickly we got used to the high pixel density and the resulting text and icons. Switching back to the reviewer's personal laptop was difficult after the completion of the tests.

Acer takes a step up into premium land with its S7; however, there are still a few rough edges — in particular, battery life.

Full HD IPS screen ; Premium feel ; Dual 128GB SSDs in RAID 0 means super-speed storage ; Decent accessories

Pricey ; Can get quite loud under load ; Backlit keyboard hard to see in half-light ; Poor battery life

From our perspective, it's a great little machine, but it's crippled by its battery life. If Acer decides to bundle the battery expansion free of charge, that would go some way to mitigating the issue, albeit at the cost of extra weight.
