This shallow but rambunctious arcade racer may have only one trick up its sleeve, but it's a really good trick.
Speeding down an airport runway in a shiny red sports car is cool; speeding down an airport runway with an out-of-control aircraft thundering toward you is insane. The frequent explosions, tumbling debris, and resulting tug-of-war among racers are...

I first saw Split/Second: Velocity late 2009 at a small games convention in London. Even then, the demo was impressive; so much so, that I declared that I would purchase it on launch. Nine months later, I finally managed to get my hands on a copy. ...
Split/Second is a fantastic game with stunning visuals and a large range of effects and explosions. You won’t regret the purchase of this game, but you may buzz through it quicker than you think.

This is, the greatest song in the wor-hurld! This is most definately not a tribute!
Fantastic action orientated racing, with some of the best environmental interactions I've played on in a while. Awesome 'speed sense' makes you feel like you're driving at a million miles an hour. The graphics are great
Sound track is painful to the ears. The entire game, after you've been playing for a while, begins to play like a Michael Bay movie. The cars themselves don't offer a lot of driving variety, at least not in my opinion
A game in the same vein as Burnout, it offers enough that is different in the way of environmental interaction and storyline that it could be considered an improvement. The premise follows that you are involved in a reality TV show called Split/Second ...

The racing genre is one that doesn't really have much regular innovation. Most of these games are basically comprised of racing from the start line to the finishing line, although occasionally something does come along that attempts something a little ...
Indeed, the Power Plays for example are quite different from Burnout's takedowns. Much more over the top! More of this in the future please. Could be a great series.

Redefining Â"explosive actionÂ"
Superb track design facilitates its neat car combat hook perfectly; destroying opponents and changing the track are exciting additions to excellent arcade racing; freaking gorgeous
Cheap A.I. sometimes defeats the purpose of power play attacks
I thought the most fun youÂ'd ever have playing Split Second is during your first race, and yet driving beneath a crumbling freeway or evading a crashing plane never wanes in excitement. I expected the thrill of racing through exploding environments ...

Split/Second is a pretty straightforward example of modern arcade racing. However, what separates it is the mighty good trick it has up its sleeve
Creative track designDestructible EnvironmentsGood graphics and effects
Pretty severe rubber-band AI issues.Lack of car variety.Air strike, Air Revenge, and Survival are not very enjoyable
In case anyone is wondering, the narrator in the game says that these traps exist as part of a reality game show. This flimsy premise is basically just a way to divide up the levels and events -- pretty much the only time you remember that you are ...
