Google Daydream View review

Android VR becomes a reality, and it's super cheap

Very inexpensive VR headset ; Comes with a remote control ; Fabric design and flashy colors

Content is just getting started ; Light bleeding is a problem ; Phone runs hot, slows down

It's easy to get sucked into virtual reality with Google Daydream View. It's poised to work with more Android phones than any other VR platform, and it's very inexpensive. Of course, it needs more engaging content before it's worth purchasing.

Google Daydream View review: A Pixel-perfect VR experience?

Google has a mobile virtual reality platform, Daydream, which now has a headset to go with it. It's called Daydream View. One point to make is that Daydream View isn't going to be the only Daydream-compatible headset. Other manufacturers may release...

Affordable and easy-to-use access point into VR (if you have the right phone), comfortable fit beyond any competitor, decent array of day one titles (again, affordable if not free)

Only Google Pixel phones compatible for time being, can slip down due to lack of overhead strap, needs more titles to truly thrive

One point to make is that Daydream View isn't going to be the only Daydream-compatible headset. Other manufacturers may release their own versions based on Google's reference design in the coming months. They'll be similar to Daydream View in that...

Google Daydream View (2017)

Google Daydream View 2 (2017) review: Price, release date and compatible phones for Google second edition virtual reality headset

Comfortable and compact ; Google's wealth of content ; Works with more phones now

Slightly fuzzy picture ; Pricier than before ; Not much of a jump forward

A comfortable, easy-to-use headset – but not a huge leap forward.

Google Daydream View review: Google’s Pixel-perfect Gear VR rival gets a 2017 facelift

Google's Daydream View is the perfect accessory for your new Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL, and it's seen a 2017 update

Soft, comfy design

Not particularly secure on your face ; Right now there's a severe lack of 'must-have' apps

In its defence, though, the Daydream VR platform is in its infancy right now, and in a couple of months its app support will be vastly superior to what's on offer right now, so watch this space: in 2017, Daydream VR could well become the mobile headset...

Google Pros and cons: Our quick verdict on Google's Daydream View

The Daydream View is a solid first attempt at a mobile VR headset. It's comfortable and VR experiences look great. The only problem is there aren't many apps available for it yet.

Inexpensive ; Comfortable ; Motion controller makes VR immersive ; High-quality VR experiences

Not many apps yet ; More Daydream phones are coming, but aren’t here yet

Google Daydream View review: mobile VR done mostly right

Nearly a year ago, I wrote about a then-new product called the Samsung Gear VR — a mobile phone-powered headset that promised cheap, mainstream virtual reality, but it delivered something I wasn't...

Clever, ergonomic hardware design ; Versatile, convenient controller ; Lots of potential for Android integration

Only compatible with Google Pixel at launch ; Finding the best fit takes time ; Still waiting for killer apps

Google Daydream View review

For use with its new Pixel phones (and more soon), we tried out Google's first Daydream VR headset. Here's our Google Daydream View review.

You'll need a Daydream VR compatible phone but the Daydream View VR headset is certainly an accomplished device. Its attractive style is complimented by a comfortable fit, although an over the top strap might be an oversight for more energetic tasks....

Google Daydream View review

A sexier, streamlined alternative to Cardboard with plenty of potential

Clever controller opens up more VR possibilities ; Should eventually support loads of phones ; The price is right

Limited app and phone support at launch ; Headset lets in quite a bit of light

Even with limited app and phone support at launch, Google’s second stab at VR has serious potential

Google Daydream View Review

Our Google Daydream View VR headset Review opens the door to a new era in Google's mobile VR game, starting with Pixel. The first phones that work with Daydream are the Google Pixel and the Google Pixel XL, both of which are available at the same...

Materials make device look and feel premium ; Controller feels light but legit, controls feel natural ; Works with Google's new Daydream VR software ; Big name brands onboard for future software ; Comfortable to wear and adjust on the fly

Price is too close to that of Gear VR, which is far more powerful ; Not a lot of games available at launch ; Does not come with protective cover for lenses ; Wirelessness means limited VR time

The Google Daydream View headset and controller are two parts of a future I’m glad to be a part of. With it, I’m able to see new environments and play games that defy traditional notions of what computers are able to be for their users. I’m also able...

Google Daydream View review

The Daydream View is the most comfortable choice for jumping into high-quality virtual reality content.

Daydream content is high-quality ; Remote has a long battery life and is ergonomic ; Daydream View is comfortable to wear ; Easy to use ; Affordable

Phone gets hot fast ; Light can leak into headset, for some users ; Only compatible with Pixel and Pixel XL right now

Daydream View is the best mobile virtual reality experience you can get right now, but of course, you’ll need a compatible phone. If you have a Pixel, or if your device becomes Daydream-ready via a software update, we believe the View is worth the $79....
