Amazon Fire HD 10 and Fire HD 8 review

Okay for Amazon's media offerings, and that's about it

Low price ; Impressive speakers ; Improved FireOS

Terrible screen resolution ; Sluggish performance ; Plasticky design

Poor performance and sub-par screen resolutions leave you questioning the purpose of these affordable tablets.

Amazon Kindle Fire HD review

Now comes in two size choices for the discerning tablet worrier

Sharp, warm screen ; Unmatched media library ; Highly streamlined UI

Online stores are sluggish ; Lack of core tablet functionality ; Poor app store

Both the Kindle Fire HD 7 and 8.9 are excellent value tablets for the solid, capable hardware you're getting. But you need to think carefully about what you want from a tablet and what the alternatives are.

Amazon Kindle Fire HD review

Can the Amazon Kindle Fire HD take on the Google Nexus 7 and the iPad Mini?

Sturdy build ; Screen is great for video ; Huge ebook selection

No 3G ; Backlit screen on books ; Slightly lacking in apps

Review Amazon Kindle Fire HD 7 Tablet

The redesigned Fire. The $200 original stood alone when it launched, but more and more tablets are now steadily creeping up towards the price point and giving the Kindle Fire series a run for its money. Now with immediate competition, can the Kindle...

Bright IPS display ; Great outdoor usability ; Easy-to-use UI ; Good build quality ; HDMI-out

Bland UI, little customization options ; Average hardware performance ; No SD slot or WWAN options ; Lockscreen Ads for $200 model ; No official support for Android apps

The tablet can be used in outdoor situations if needed due to the bright backlight. For a $200 tablet, the screen is better than expected

Amazon Kindle Fire HD

The Kindle Fire HD brings to the UK something missing from Amazon's armoury: a tablet. With the Kindle E Ink reader now firmly lodged in the hands, and minds, of many, the most important thing about this particular tablet might not be the operating...

User interface is nicely integrated with content, cloud storage options, build quality, affordable, sound quality

Lacks some of the convenience of native Android apps, app store lacks some of the best that Android offers, display is a bit too glossy, no offline video from Lovefilm, can feel a little slow to navigate at times

The Kindle Fire HD wants to be the complete package, from hardware to content. The price makes it attractive and there are various options on offer: higher storage at £209 and the "with offers" alternative, which knocks £10 off the price in exchange...

Amazon Kindle Fire HD review

Amazon's Kindle Fire HD is roughly a year old now. It originally cost £159 (with adverts on the lock screen) but has just had a price cut to £119.Opinions differ as to the reason for the slashing: some say it's to compete with the Tesco Hudl, reviewed,...

The Kindle Fire HD wasn't the best 7in tablet when it launched in 2012, and even at the new lower price, it can't really compete with newcomers including Tesco's Hudl. The Fire HD locks you into Amazon's world, which still lacks the breadth of choice...

Kindle Fire HD vs new Nexus 7 2 review

Two of the most popular budget 7-inch Android tablets are the Amazon Kindle Fire HD and the Google Nexus 7. Now that Google has released a new Google Nexus 7 2 tablet, we thought it would be a good idea to put the two tablets head-to-head with each...

There's no denying that (on paper) the new Nexus 7 2 is a all-round better tablet than the Amazon Kindle Fire HD. The only question you need to ask yourself is whether its worth the extra £50; we would suggest that it definitely is.

Amazon Kindle Fire HD review

It's been a while coming, but Amazon has finally made the decision to make its Kindle Fire devices available to UK customers. If you hadn't been paying attention, and missed Amazon's TV advertising blitz, then you might assume these were simply...

A good value tablet with an excellent screen, HDMI output and LoveFilm support - but the Amazon interface is sluggish and inflexible

Amazon Kindle Fire HD

We find out if Amazon's 7-inch Android tablet beats the Google Nexus 7.

Decent screen ; Good value ; Has a video output

Prescriptive UI ; No GPS

Aside from Wi-Fi, all you get is Bluetooth, letting you connect with Bluetooth speakers and headphones.

Amazon Kindle Fire HD (7", Wi-Fi)

The Amazon Kindle Fire HD ($199/16GB; $249/32GB) isn't a tablet. It's more like a shop window onto the world's biggest content department store. The new 7-inch model from the super-retailer offers up a well-designed interface that provides an easy way...

Gorgeous screen. Very easy to use. Amazon Prime members get lots of video and book content. Multi-user parental controls

Rigidly locked to the Amazon ecosystem. Sluggish on occasion. Other tablets have more apps

The 7-inch Amazon Kindle Fire HD is a great way to consume your Amazon content on a small screen, but it's not the fastest or most flexible $200 tablet any more.
