A smaller plastic housing and new power usage tracking on Belkin's WeMo Insight Switch bring greater visual appeal and usefulness to Belkin's already winning entry-level smart-home power plug line.

Setup remains a hassle, it's still large enough to block adjacent outlets, and reliance on IFTTT for advanced programming functions means you'll need to bounce between two different apps to get the most out of the Switch.

Despite a few usability quirks, Belkin's WeMo Insight Switch only improves on the simple, low-risk formula that made Belkin's original programmable WeMo Switch so appealing as a home automation starting point.

Test: Belkin Wemo Insight Switch

 

Det är inget som helst fel på funktionen med Insight Switch, bara formen.

Som produkt i sig fungerar den lika stabilt som övriga delar i Wemo-serien och Belkins Wemo-app är riktigt bra som nav i ett uppkopplat hem. Synd bara att switchen måste vara en så enorm fettokloss i sig själv bara.

Ok app, insight into usage

Doesn't understand daylight savings time. Can't turn on when setting on or off using sunrise or sunset. Lot's of bugs with the iOS app. They need to spend a lot more time on the software side

Belkin thanks for the fast response. Seems to work best with a manual switch. Our fan with a digital interface can only be turned off with the WEMO where as our old fan with the mechanical switch can be toggled ON/OFF. Liking it the more I use it. The...

Good Idea still needs to mature

 

I chatted with Tech Support, very nice but not much help. It appeared the WEMO was connected to my wireless router but after 30 seconds It would turn off an try to discover other wireless networks. I discovered on my own that the Acceskey/password was...

Nice way to track energy usage.Can turn stuff ON/OFF when away from home. If appears that Belkin is updating the APP on a regular basis

Setup more difficult than you would be lead to believe from their quick start Guide. Firmware/APP could use some more work
