LG Watch Urbane reviewed: The dressiest new smartwatch

It's round, it's metal, and it's got the looks. It all comes down to this: is Android Wear good enough?

Crisp, classic design; fully round, beautiful OLED display; latest Android Wear support; Wi-Fi antenna connects to phone across different Wi-Fi networks; decent battery life (for Android Wear).

Big design won't appeal to many wrists; Android Wear software still doesn't feel all that smooth to use; Wi-Fi connectivity spotty at times; watch is expensive compared to other Android Wear options.

The LG Watch Urbane is the best-looking Android Wear smartwatch and adds Wi-Fi-to-phone connectivity, but it doesn't offer all that much more than previous Android Wear watch models.

LG G Watch R review: Wins big on style, falls down on software

The LG G Watch R mixes metal, glass and real leather to be the most stylish smartwatch around. Android Wear just isn't up to scratch yet.

With its round design, angular metal frame and selection of gorgeous watch faces, the LG G Watch R is the most attractive Android Wear Smartwatch around. It's battery life isn't bad either.

Final pricing is still unclear. Battery life, while better than Android Wear competitors, still isn't good enough for the average person. The watch's design won't appeal to those who prefer sleek, slim timepieces.

Although its stark design and beautiful face makes this the first smartwatch you might actually be happy to be seen wearing, its Android Wear software has a long way to go before it's anything more than a passing novelty.

LG G Watch review: Not the Google watch we need

Android Wear is Google's wrist-worn vision of the future, but LG's smartwatch feels like an early prototype. Read all about it.

The G Watch shows off Android Wear's impressive voice recognition, Android phone connectedness, and potential for future app support. It has solid build quality, is water- and dust-resistant, and the included magnetic charger is easy to use.

A generic-looking design; terrible battery life; a display that doesn't work in bright sunlight; a strange card-based notification system that doesn't always pop info you want; costs more, lacks the heart-rate monitor, and has a slightly weaker display...

The LG G Watch attempts to bring you the future on your wrist, but with its generic design, unimpressive battery life, and unpolished early software, you're better off waiting to see what else is around the bend.

LG Watch Sport Review: Big, Bold and Bloated

If LG and Google were hoping the Sport Watch or Android Wear 2.0 would make smartwatches must-have devices, then they're going to be sorely disappointed. Apart from some cosmetic changes, there's nothing that makes the watch, or the operating system,...

Always-on display ; Built-in LTE, GPS ; Good app selection,Android Pay

Can’t swap bands ; Very bulky ; Short battery life ; Limited workout features

The LG Watch Sport, the first smartwatch to run Android Wear 2.0, has built-in LTE and GPS and a big, bright display, but it’s too bulky for most people.

LG Watch Urbane Review

The LG Watch Urbane is solid, in the sense that it is well made. It has a good battery life, runs the latest version of Android Wear and has a bright screen. However, it lacks an ambient light sensor, is chunky and will probably be too big for most...

This smartwatch has an impressive 410-mAh battery.

The Watch Urbane lacks an ambient light sensor and can't automatically adjust its brightness.

LG took a different stylistic approach than several other smartwatch manufacturers, which is great, but the Watch Urbane is large and awkward-looking. It still performs well, has a bright screen and runs the latest version of Android Wear though.

LG Watch Urbane LTE Review: Not Smart Enough

The LG Watch Urbane LTE is bulkier and more expensive than a typical smartwatch, but does not do much more other than let you get alerts, calls and messages without your phone. Plus, it lasts only half as long as most other smartwatches.

LTE connectivity for freedom from phone ; Solid fitness tracking tool ; Android Wear improvements

Bulky design ; Relatively short battery life ; Limited phone compatibility ; Expensive

The LG Watch Urbane LTE makes and receives calls and messages, and gets notifications without being tethered to your phone, but iPhone owners should wait for iOS compatibility.

LG Watch Urbane Review

Wearables are a work in progress, but the LG Watch Urbane is a prime example of how far the category has come. LG continues to up the ante in its hardware design, while Google continues (albeit slowly) to create a useful operating system for your...

Luxurious design ; Sharp, bright display ; Always-on watch face ; Gesture controls for reading notifications.

Limited app selection compared to Apple Watch ; Heavier and bulkier than competing smartwatches.

The LG Watch Urbane is a solid smartwatch in a chic, classic design, but while Android Wear continues to improve, it's still limited.

Review: LG G Watch

The LG G Watch was not just the first offering from LG that featured Android Wear, it was the first watch to feature Android Wear at all. Packed with a[...]

I never thought I’d get attached to this watch, but since I have been trying it, it has been on my wrist apart from when I sleep. It gets more and more useful, as time goes on, and the various apps that are available help too. Battery life is okay, but...

LG G Watch – Review

A watch fundamentally is foolproof, you look at it wanting answers and it duly obliges, although for many years this has been a rather simple transaction. i.e what is the time? It is 5am. Simple. This idea hasn't been played about with for a long time....

Overall I liked the LG G Watch, it certainly has some useful features, yet I feel the hardware is a little compromised. With a poor battery and screen meaning you’ll end up in situations where you just can’t use the watch. I feel that Android Wear is...
