If you're looking to get away by car this summer, then the new TomTom Start 20 is something you should consider taking along for the ride.

Slick unit ; Good screen ; Easy to use ; The price is right

So should the TomTom Start 20 be on your shopping list? Absolutely. For £130 you get a dedicated sat nav that beats the pants off most of its standalone rivals and makes those freebie apps you can download for your phone look inadequate by comparison....

Satellite navigation devices have had a tough time of late, with smartphones offering all the same features for free, without having to carry another gadget around. TomTom hopes that the affordable Start 20 will get people to switch from their iPhones...

At 4.3 inches, the TomTom Start 20 may be a lot smaller than high-end rivals, but it's still bigger than the majority of smartphones. It's also easy to see in all conditions – including bright sunshine – and the widescreen aspect ratio is perfect for...

There's very little to dislike about the TomTom Start 20. It's affordable, and using it means that your smartphone's battery life won't take a hit

If you still haven't managed to get round to buying a sat-nav device, the TomTom Start 20 is a good place to start. It's affordable, well equipped and the impressive screen makes it easier to view and to use than a smartphone or other sat-nav rivals.

Review TomTom?s entry level Start satnavs have long been the default choice for anyone wanting a reliable but basic PND. Now the range has been given a wash and brush up with the release of some new 4.3in screen devices with prices starting at ?130.

TomTom?s navigation system, its maps, UI and voices are pretty much state of the art and the device itself with its clever and versatile integrated mounting arm is physically impressive. But at ?130 the absence of traffic data seems poor value. ?

Recommend to all travellers, this was a replacement for a Tom Tom Start, stolen from my vehicle Whover stole the original has done me a favour. This one is brilliant for anyone travelling around the U.K.

Price has gone down by £10 since I bought it, but still a bargain. I've used it quite a few times, longest being from up north to travel to central London and back. I love the downloadable voices and have John Cleese on mine. If you've used the old sat...
